Pedestrian Killed in National City Crash at 24th Street and Highland Avenue
NATIONAL CITY, CA (July 5, 2022) – A pedestrian was killed after a crash at 24th Street and Highland Avenue in National City.
According to the San Diego Union-Tribune and ABC 10 News, the accident took place on Tuesday morning. Officers reported the collision at about 8:20 a.m.
The incident happened when a male pedestrian was crossing the intersection of 24th Street and Highland Avenue. At the same time, a Dodge Ram was going north on Highland.
Man Hit by Car
Police said the pickup truck then made a left turn onto 24th Street. In the process, the car struck the man in the crosswalk.
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and found him down on the ground. They soon pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
The name of the deceased party has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, police added that the driver stopped and stayed at the site after hitting the man.
Officers forced the area of 24th Street and Highland Avenue to shut down for a time following the incident. The cause of the fatal National City pedestrian crash is still under investigation.
