Motorcyclist Injured in Hit-and-run Crash on 805 Freeway
NATIONAL CITY, Calif. (June 1, 2021) — A National City hit-and-run motorcycle crash happened early Tuesday morning on the Interstate 805 Freeway.
The crash happened about 6:32 a.m. on June 1st just north of the Plaza Boulevard freeway entrance, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The motorcyclist went down in the HOV lane after a collision with a suspect in a white Dodge Dakota pickup truck with license plate 8S57990, police said. The truck driver reportedly exited on Imperial Avenue and was taking back roads as they fled. It’s unknown if authorities ever caught up with the suspect, but the investigation is ongoing.
Meanwhile, it appears a black hatchback may have also been involved and stopped after the National City hit-and-run collision.
Paramedics responded to treat the motorcycle rider for undisclosed injuries. Also, police did not mention the victim’s name, gender or age.
Finally, investigators continue to piece together what happened and will determine fault.
