Car Hits Electric Scooter Rider on 30th Street; Boy, 15, Hospitalized
NATIONAL CITY, Calif. (Jan. 10, 2019) — A 15-year-old boy riding an electric scooter and not wearing a helmet was struck by a car on 30th Street and suffered non-life threatening injuries, according to San Diego 7 News.
The boy was riding the scooter in the 600 block of E. 30th Street. He was struck about 7:40 p.m. Wednesday night near Sweetwater Union High School, according to the National City Police Department. Police are investigating what happened and whether the boy was in a bike lane, crossing the street or in traffic lanes when he was hit.
Paramedics rushed the injured boy who was bleeding from the head to UCSD Medical Center where he was treated for superficial injuries, the report said.
The scooter was left behind broken in many pieces.
The driver involved stopped and cooperated with the police investigation.
