BMW, Semi-Truck Crash on I-5 Freeway in Natomas
NATOMAS, Calif. (November 30, 2021) – A Natomas head-on crash happened early Tuesday on the southbound side of the Interstate 5 Freeway.
A wrong-way driver reportedly crashed into a semi-truck about 1:30 a.m. on Nov. 30th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP reported at least two people were injured when a wrong-way driver in a BMW traveling north in the southbound lanes collided with a big rig truck.
The car wound up on the right shoulder and the truck veered into the center median.
2 Injured in I-5 Freeway Collision in Natomas
Paramedics responded and rushed the driver from the BMW to a hospital for treatment of major injuries. Later, authorities arrested the motorist on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Meanwhile, a passenger in the big rig truck suffered minor injuries. The truck driver did not report any injuries at the scene.
Furthermore, police closed down a stretch of the Interstate 5 Freeway at the interchange with the Interstate 80 Freeway to investigate and clean up the area.
Investigators will determine fault for the crash.
