1 Killed in Needless Crash on Interstate 40 Freeway Near 5 Mile Road
NEEDLESS, CA (May 30, 2022) – A car crash killed at least one person on the Interstate 40 near 5 Mile Road in Needless.
According to the California Highway Patrol dispatch team, the tragic accident took place on Monday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck at about 12:37 p.m.
CHP said two vehicles collided for an unknown reason in the area of Needless. They crashed on the westbound side of the Interstate 40 Freeway near 5 Mile Road.
The incident log described the cars as a black pickup truck and a small red vehicle. The pickup truck rolled over due to the impact of the collision.
2 Cars Collide
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene near the border crossing station. They found two people who ended up ejected from the pickup as a result of the accident.
Two air ambulances took the patients to the hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries. Medical personnel confirmed that one person died following the incident.
The name of the deceased party has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, the cause of the fatal Needless crash is still under investigation.
CHP forced the westbound lanes of the Interstate 40 to shut down for more than two hours after the wreck.
