1 Killed, 2 Hurt in Collision Near Coronado Avenue
Nestor, CA (April 12, 2022) – One person died, and two others suffered injuries following a car accident that occurred on Interstate 5, according to the FOX5 News.
Earlier reports indicated horrible crash involved a Ford Ranger and Volkswagen Jetta. Preliminary investigation revealed a 65-year-old man from San Diego was behind the wheel of a Ranger heading north on I-5. For reasons still unclear, the Ranger veered across all lanes of the freeway in the South Bay.
Officials said a Volkswagen Jetta ended up hitting the Ranger. The article published online mentioned the Jetta was driven by a 24-year-old woman from Chula Vista.
The catastrophic incident took place at about 11 a.m.
Passenger Dies After Car Accident in Nestor
Due to the force from the impact, the Ranger rolled over, ejecting a 63-year-old female passenger in the pickup truck. Responding paramedics rushed the injured woman to a local hospital, where she later passed away. Authorities continue to withhold the identity of the deceased pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, the drivers of the Ranger and the Jetta both sustained injuries as a result of the wreck. It remained unclear at this time if paramedics transported the victims to the hospital for further treatment.
Investigators continue to work to determine the precise cause of the fatal crash on Interstate 5 in Nestor.
