
Nestor Hernandez, 22, ID’d as Suspect in Pacific Beach Fatal DUI Crash
SAN DIEGO, CA (January 23, 2023) – Authorities detained Nestor Hernandez after a fatal DUI crash on Riviera Drive in Pacific Beach.
Police determined that the 22-year-old man was under the influence of alcohol when the collision took place on Sunday.
The incident began when Nestor Hernandez was driving a Toyota Tacoma south on Riviera Drive in Pacific Beach. At the same time, a Chevrolet Tahoe parked in the 3400 block of the road.
The two occupants of the Tahoe exited their car and stood on the sidewalk. San Diego police said the Tacoma approached, jumped the sidewalk and struck them.
Woman Killed, Man Injured in Collision
The car then slammed into the Tahoe near Edge Cliff Drive in the Crown Point neighborhood. Both pedestrians ended up pinned underneath the Tacoma as a result of the accident.
Paramedics arrived and pronounced one of the victims, a 22-year-old woman, dead at the scene. The other pedestrian, a 24-year-old man, survived the incident with unknown injuries.
Medical personnel rushed the patient to a hospital for treatment. The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released.
The San Diego Union-Tribune and FOX 5 News wrote that the collision occurred on January 22 at about 1:30 a.m. Meanwhile, police soon arrested Nestor Hernandez on suspicion of murder and DUI.
