Nettie Perkett, 46; Taurean Lee, 26, Killed in Danville Head-On Crash on 680 Freeway
DANVILLE (June 12, 2020) – Two people killed after an alleged DUI wrong-way collision along the Interstate 680 last week Sunday have been identified.
Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office affirmed that 46-year-old Nettie Perkett; and 26-year-old Taurean Lee died following the wreck on June 8.
According to reports by East Bay Times and SF Gate, the incident began when a 2020 Ford Fusion was traveling south in the northbound lanes of Interstate 680.
The California Highway Patrol said at the same time Perkett was driving a 2012 Honda Civic north on the highway near El Pintado Road with Lee as a passenger.
Wrong-Way Driver Camille Kimball, 27, Arrested For DUI
The driver of the Ford then slammed into the Honda head-on. Paramedics responded and pronounced both Perkett and Lee, both of Antioch, dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, medical personnel took the driver of the Ford to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek with non-life-threatening injuries. The fatal accident took place at about 3:45 a.m.
CHP determined that the wounded motorist, 27-year-old Camille Kimball, was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs when the incident happened.
Authorities later arrested the Concord woman on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and felony DUI. She will be booked into the county jail upon release from the hospital.
