4 Killed, 2 Injured in Nevada County Crash on Interstate 80 Near Eagle Lakes Road
NEVADA COUNTY, CA (November 20, 2021) – A DUI wrong-way crash killed four people and injured two others on the Interstate 80 in Nevada County.

According to The Sacramento Bee and KCRA News, the tragic accident took place on Saturday morning. Officers reported the wreck at about 4:47 a.m. in the Sierra.
The incident began when a Jeep was traveling the wrong-way on the eastbound Interstate 80 near Eagle Lakes Road in Nevada County.
The California Highway Patrol said the Jeep then slammed head-on into a Honda Civic. The Honda was carrying a man, a woman, two young children and an infant at the time.
DUI Wrong-Way Driver Hits Another Car
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene, near the Yuba Gap and Clear Lake areas. They confirmed that both adults and the two older juveniles died as a result of the collision.
The infant ended up flown to the Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno for treatment of unknown injuries. Medical personnel took the driver of the Jeep to the same hospital with major injuries.
CHP believed that the wrong-way motorist was under the influence of alcohol when he hit the other car. Meanwhile, the fatal Nevada County crash is still under investigation.
Officers forced the eastbound Interstate 80 to shut down at the Highway 20 junction for several hours following the wreck.
