1 Killed in Crash on Highway 84 Near Newark Boulevard
NEWARK, CA (August 16, 2022) – A crash killed at least one person on Highway 84 near Newark Boulevard in the city of Newark.
According to the East Bay Times and NBC Bay Area, the tragic accident took place on Tuesday night. Officers reported the wreck at about 9:09 p.m.
The incident happened when two vehicles collided for an unknown reason. They crashed on eastbound Highway 84, east of the Newark Boulevard on-ramp.
A California Highway Patrol dispatch described the cars as a red Ford Focus and a silver Honda.
2 Vehicles Collide
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and then found one individual who sustained major injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel soon pronounced the victim dead at the scene. The name of the deceased party has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, officers forced the eastbound lanes of Highway 84 to shut down near Newark Boulevard for two hours following the wreck. The cause of the fatal crash is still under investigation.
