1 Dead, 4 Hurt in Collision on I-15
NEWBERRY SPRINGS (July 18, 2017)- According to the San Bernardino Sheriffs Department, a deadly collision involving two vehicles was reported Monday morning on I-15 north roughly 2.5 miles away from Minneola Road.
California Highway Patrol officials responded to the crash at 6:44 a.m. between a silver Audi and a ran SUV.
Video footage showed the Audi to rest off the left side of the road with significant damage to the front end with several shattered windows. A mother and her young child were occupants of the vehicle.
Meanwhile, the SUV ran completely off the road ultimately landing on its side on the driver’s side. A total of four people were inside one who sadly died while the other three were injured.
One of the three passengers was taken by ground ambulance while two of the other injured victims were flown to the trauma center over at Barstow Community Hospital.
At this time, the name of the deceased nor the names of the injured victims have been made public.
Major traffic delays ensued for up to 3.5 hours until after 10:00 a.m.
The 15 freeway stretch through Newberry Springs has been considered one of the most dangerous highways to drive on in San Bernardino County as there have been numerous major injury accidents over the course of the past few years.
