1 Killed in Newberry Springs Crash on Interstate 40 Near Rest Area
NEWBERRY SPRINGS, CA (November 4, 2021) – A car crash killed one person on the Interstate 40 in Newberry Springs.
The California Highway Patrol dispatch team said the tragic accident happened on Thursday night. Officers reported the wreck at about 9:28 p.m.
According to their dispatch, at least two vehicles collided for an unknown reason in Newberry Springs. They crashed on the eastbound Interstate 40 near the Desert Oasis Rest Area.
2 Vehicles Collide
The incident log added that one of the cars involved rolled over upon impact. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and found an ejected occupant from the wreckage.
Medical personnel confirmed that one party died as a result of the collision. The name of the deceased victim has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, CHP forced the eastbound lanes of the Interstate 40 to shut down for hours following the wreck. The cause of the fatal Newberry Springs crash is still under investigation.
