Caltrans Employee Hit and Injured by Vehicle on Highway 101
LOCATION: Newbury Park, Ventura County
DATE OF COLLISION: Monday, December 24th
December 25, 2018 – An on-duty Caltrans employee was injured after being struck by a vehicle on Highway 101 at Lynn Road, according to Ventura County Star.
The accident happened on Monday around 2:10 p.m.
As per the article, California Highway Patrol officers had been following an erratic driver on the southbound freeway since around Central Avenue outside Camarillo. A white Nissan Altima was reportedly seen swerving in and out of lanes, sometimes crashing into the center divider, sometimes at high speeds, and had continued over the Conejo Grade with a possibly blown front tire.
The vehicle ended up cashing near the Lynn Road interchange in Newbury Park, where it struck a Caltrans employee working in the area. The Caltrans worker suffered what appeared to be minor injuries as a result of the incident.
Meanwhile, CHP official with the Moorpark office said the erratic driver had apparently been suffering from a medical issue.
At least two other vehicles were involved in the crash. It was not immediately clear if there were other injuries in the accident.
Liability in the collision is still being determined.
