Elderly Man Fatally Struck by Vehicle on Highway 14
DATE OF ACCIDENT: Friday, April 12th
April 14, 2019 – An unidentified man was killed in a pedestrian accident Friday evening on northbound Highway 14, the Signal reported.
At approximately 9:38 p.m., a pedestrian was seen walking in the slow lane of the freeway, heading in a northwesterly direction toward the Golden Valley Road onramp.
The man was eventually struck by a passing 2002 Honda Accord. Per article, the motorist attempted to take evasive action by steering towards the left but still hit the pedestrian.
Deadly Pedestrian Accident in Newhall Friday
California Highway Patrol and Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and immediately rendered aid to the pedestrian. Paramedics said the man sadly died at the scene. The fatality was only identified as a 60-year-old man.
Meanwhile, authorities mentioned the driver of the Honda was later arrested, not on charges of hitting the pedestrian, but for having outstanding warrants for his arrest.
Further investigation on the case is ongoing.
