NEWPORT BEACH, CA — Lanes were closed Wednesday after a Ford Fusion sedan struck a light pole, causing it to crash down into lanes, California Highway Patrol reported.
The silver sedan collided with the the pole at just after 9 a.m. for unknown reasons, a CHP spokesperson said. Two other cars were also involved in the crash, one of them driving up an embankment, they said.
There was no sign of sparking or smoking from the downed pole, according to witnesses.
Three lanes were closed while the light pole was removed from the roadway, according to CHP. The incident lasted approximately one hour.
