3-Vehicle Collision Involving Rollover on State Route 73 in Orange County
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (August 2, 2024) — A multi-vehicle car accident happened Friday morning on the northbound 73 Freeway, just south of Birch Street in Newport Beach.
The collision occurred at around 10:38 a.m. on August 2nd, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The drivers of a white truck towing a silver trailer, a black Range Rover, and a grey Nissan Versa were involved in a collision. Two vehicles were in the center divide and one was on the right shoulder following the crash.
The 20-foot trailer from the truck reportedly overturned in the crash and was blocking the right lane.
A witness told CHP officials the black vehicle was driving recklessly prior to the collision with the other two motorists, but that remains under investigation.
Investigators are working to determine fault for the crash on the 73 Freeway in Newport Beach.
