Rider Hospitalized After Collision on Highway 1

Newport Beach, CA (March 10, 2023) – One person suffered injuries following a traffic accident that occurred on State Route Highway 1, the California Highway Patrol group reported.

Officials said a man riding a Vespa motorcycle collided with another vehicle near the intersection at State Park in Newport Beach. According to the dispatch, a dark green GMY Yukon and a white Mercedes Benz car were found at the scene. But it remained unclear which car hit the motorcyclist.

CHP logged the case on March 7, Tuesday, around 5:47 p.m.

When emergency crews arrived at the location, they immediately checked the conditions of all parties involved in the wreck. Our sources later confirmed the motorcyclist sustained major injuries in the collision. For this reason, paramedics rushed the victim to the hospital for treatment and further evaluation. Authorities continue to withhold personal information on the patient pending confirmation.

Detectives assigned to handle the case continue to investigate exactly how and why the crash happened on Highway 1 in Newport Beach.
