Newport Beach Pedestrian Accident 22nd Street and Newport Boulevard | Suspect Arrested

Samantha Sandoval, 21, of Jurupa Valley, Arrested in Newport Beach
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (May 1, 2025) – Samantha Sandoval, 21, of Jurupa Valley, was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of hit-and-run resulting injury in Newport Beach. The arrest comes roughly a week after the suspect allegedly hit a pedestrian on 22nd Street and Newport Boulevard.
The Newport Beach Police Department reported the crash happened around 11:15 p.m. on April 24th at the intersection, leaving the pedestrian with major injuries.
Suspected Hit-and-Run Driver Flees Crash Scene
A vehicle struck the pedestrian and its driver fled the scene without stopping to help the victim, according to Newport Beach police Sgt. Steve Oberon.
Paramedics transported the victim to a trauma center for treatment of undisclosed major injuries, police said. The person’s name, age, and gender were not released.
Meanwhile, the NBPD Major Accident Investigation Team headed up an investigation into the collision spanning several counties over the past week.
Detectives Locate Suspect Vehicle | Suspect Arrested
They located the suspect’s vehicle on Saturday in the city of Fontana and towed it back to Newport Beach.
By Tuesday, detectives had located the suspect, Samantha Sandoval, and she arrested and booked at the Newport Beach Jail on suspicion of hit-and-run resulting in injury.
