NFL Coach Greg Knapp, 58, Killed in San Ramon Bicycle Crash
SAN RAMON, CA (July 22, 2021) – NFL coach Greg Knapp was killed in a bicycle crash on Doughtery Road in San Ramon.
KRON 4 News identified the 58-year-old Danville man as the victim of the fatal collision which took place on Saturday afternoon.
The incident happened on July 17 when Greg Knapp was riding a bicycle down Doughtery Road in San Ramon. At the same time, a vehicle was traveling in the same direction.
Bicyclist Hit by Car on Doughtery Road
For an unknown reason, the driver then struck the New York Jets assistant coach. San Ramon police said Greg Knapp sustained major injuries as a result of the crash.
The accident occurred just north of North Monarch Road. Paramedic arrived and rushed the bicyclist to the John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek in critical condition.
The report added that the cyclist later died. Meanwhile, police affirmed that the 22-year-old man driving the car stopped after hitting the victim.
