Bicyclist Struck, Killed on Beal Road in Imperial County
NILAND, Calif. (Jan. 2, 2019) — A 25-year-old Titusville, Florida man was struck and killed Wednesday night in a collision on East Beal Road, just west of Cuff Road in Imperial County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The young man was riding a bicycle and pulling a 23-year-old woman in a cart behind him. Taylor Bing McCready, 23, suffered a partial amputation of her leg in the crash and was airlifted to a hospital. A dog that was with them died.
The driver of a white Chevrolet Silverado dually pickup truck reportedly struck the person about 7:53 p.m. last night in front of the Imperial Irrigation plant. The roadway here has no sidewalks or crosswalks and the two-lane road was likely very dark at the time of the collision. The pickup was towed from the scene and held as evidence.
Police are heading up an investigation into what happened and liability.
