Truck Hits Street Vendors, Children in Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (June 13, 2022) – A truck plowed into nine pedestrians including two children at Wilshire Boulevard and Alvarado Street near MacArthur Park in the Westlake area.
The pedestrian accident occurred about 8:36 a.m. to 647 S. Alvarado Street, at the northeast corner of Wilshire Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The black 2001 Ford F-150 truck reportedly veered onto a sidewalk and struck nine people at the Los Angeles intersection.
The driver was reportedly traveling westbound on Wilshire Boulevard when the vehicle jumped up onto the sidewalk. The pickup truck hit several street vendors and pedestrians including two children, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
One Critically Injured in Crash on Alvarado Street
The Los Angeles Fire Department sent paramedics to help six adult pedestrians with injuries including three adult males and four adult females. One 8-year-old boy and one 8-year-old girl were also among the injured pedestrians.
Also, two of the men and one of the women declined transport to a hospital, according to the LAFD. The others were taken to the hospital with a range of injuries, including one person who was critically injured.
Additionally, the driver from the pickup truck and a passenger in the vehicle were also hurt and taken to a hospital.
Investigators are working on the case to determine why the motorist crashed onto a sidewalk.
Police do not believe alcohol or drugs or other related crimes were factors.
Finally, LAPD Central Traffic detectives urged witnesses to call them at 213-833-3713 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
