NIPTON, California (July 13, 2015) — Fita Lopez, 51, of Irvine was killed early Saturday morning when the car she was riding in was rear-ended by another driver on the Interstate 15 Freeway between Yates Well Road and the Nevada State Line, a report by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said.
The crash was reported at 2:52 a.m. between a Toyota and a Dodge Charger. The two motorists were heading northbound on the Interstate 15 Freeway when the Dodge rear-ended the Toyota. Lopez was seated in the backseat as a passenger. Paramedics responded to the scene of the crash, but Lopez died of her injuries on site.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
