Teen Driver Struck Victim’s Parked Car on Pacific Coast Highway

MALIBU, Calif. (Oct. 5, 2026) — Ryo Uchimiya, 51, a longtime sushi chef at Nobu in Malibu, died Saturday morning when a teenage driver in a 2026 Range Rover SUV crashed into the back of his parked car on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu.

The deadly collision occurred around 7 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3rd, 2026 in the 22600 block of Pacific Coast Highway, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Lost Hills/Malibu station.

The victim died from multiple blunt force injuries when his vehicle was rear-ended on the street, officials said. It happened near the popular Japanese restaurant where Uchimiya had worked for over twenty years.

Surveillance footage shows the large SUV crash into the victim’s car, pushing it forward into the another vehicle that was also parked on the street.

Meanwhile, authorities believe the 16-year-old boy driving the SUV was traveling around 50 miles per hour and reportedly swerved across the “fog line” on PCH before hitting the victim’s parked car.

The Range Rover is reportedly leased by Harry Gregson-Williams, a legendary Hollywood composer and conductor. The relationship between the teenager and Gregson-Williams is unknown at this time.
