Noe Fernandez Ortiz, 18, Killed in San Jose Car Accident on Highway 101
SAN JOSE (December 17, 2018) – A man killed after an alleged DUI crash along Highway 101 on Saturday night has been identified as Noe Fernandez Ortiz, according to The Mercury News.
Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office said the 18-year-old Watsonville man was a victim of the tragic collision which occurred on December 15 at around 10:45 p.m. near Trimble Road.
As per the article, California Highway Patrol determined that Fernandez Ortiz was driving a white Honda Civic on Highway 101 when it became disabled due to mechanical issues.
The Civic stopped on the right shoulder, parallel to Trimble Road and north of Highway 87, when a 2018 Ford Mustang came and struck the back of the Honda.

Fernandez Ortiz was ejected from his car as a result of the crash. He was immediately taken to a local hospital, where he later died.
Two other male passengers in the Civic, ages 21 and 28, sustained minor injuries upon impact. Their names were not disclosed.
Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the driver of the Mustang was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the wreck. The suspect, 29-year-old Santa Clara resident Andres Emilio Flores-Avendano, was arrested on suspicion of felony driving under the influence and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
