Noe Manzanarez, 19, ID’d as Suspect in West Covina Fatal DUI Crash on 10 Freeway
WEST COVINA, CA (April 27, 2022) – Authorities detained Noe Manzanarez after a fatal DUI crash on the 10 Freeway in West Covina.
The California Highway Patrol determined that the 19-year-old Palmdale man was under the influence of alcohol when the wreck occurred on Wednesday.
The incident began when Noe Manzanarez was driving a Toyota Camry in the No. 1 lane of the eastbound 10 Freeway in West Covina. He was traveling at unsafe speed at the time.
In the process, the man slammed into the rear of a Nissan Sentra. The Nissan was stopped due to heavy traffic in the area, west of Azusa Avenue.
Woman Killed in Wreck
CHP said one of the cars then hit a Ford F-350 stopped in the next lane. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived and pronounced the driver of the Nissan, a woman, dead at the scene.
The San Gabriel Valley Tribune wrote that the accident took place at about 12:02 a.m. Noe Manzanarez sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash.
The motorist in the Ford, a 34-year-old Rancho Cucamonga man, ended up unharmed. Meanwhile, CHP arrested Noe Manzanarez on suspicion of felony DUI causing injury or death.
They charged him with vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and booked him at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry station in lieu of $100,000 bail.
The West Covina DUI crash is still under investigation.
