Motorcyclist Killed, 2 Injured in Head-on Crash on Highway 33
OJAI, Calif. (Nov, 4, 2018) – Noli Ocampo, 36, of Oxnard, was killed, and two others were injured Saturday morning in a traffic collision on Highway 33, according to the Ventura County Star.
The motorcyclist was riding a 2011 Suzuki bike traveling northbound when he crossed the double yellow lines and collided head-on into a southbound 2008 Toyota Prius around 10:40 a.m. on Highway 33.
The motorcyclist sadly died before paramedics arrived.
The 35-year-old New Jersey man from who was driving the Prius suffered minor injuries, the CHP reported. His 29-year-old female passenger was unharmed.
Primary reports indicated the roadway was closed in both directions around mile marker 15 as authorities investigated the crash.
We extend our condolences to the family of Mr. Ocampo as they cope with this tragedy and hope those hurt have a full recovery.
Police are heading up an investigation into the cause of this crash and will examine the evidence at the scene, take measurements and speak to those involved as well as witnesses. It’s unknown at this time what caused the motorcyclist to veer across the double yellow lines and into the Prius. There may have been a dangerous road condition or it could have been a driver error.
