SAN DIEGO, Calif. (June 7, 2018) — A 59-year-old woman was seriously injured Wednesday afternoon when she was struck by a car while crossing Adams Avenue at Cherokee Avenue, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.
The collision took place about 2:17 p.m. in the Normal Heights neighborhood. The woman was crossing Adams Avenue from the south to the north side when she was struck by a 2009 Ford Escape that was traveling southbound on Cherokee Avenue. The car had a green light when it turned left to go eastbound onto Adams Avenue, police said. The pedestrian reportedly reached out and pushed the vehicle off, fell back and hit her head on the ground.
Paramedics rushed her to the hospital where she is being treated for life-threatening injuries.
The traffic division is heading up the investigation, but so far they do not suspect alcohol or drugs.
