Driver, 19, Killed in Rear-End Collision Near San Onofre State Beach Wednesday
North County, CA (September 23, 2021) – A 19-year-old man died following a traffic accident that occurred early Wednesday on the Interstate 5 Freeway.
The San Diego Union-Tribune reported the teenager was behind the wheel of a Hyundai sedan heading south on the freeway. Preliminary investigation revealed the vehicle slammed into the back of a big rig for an unknown reason.
Officials said the horrible crash took place at Basilone Road near San Onofre State Beach.
Deadly Car and Truck Accident in North County, September 22
Shortly after 5 a.m., rescue teams arrived at the location. Responding medical personnel immediately rendered aid to the teenager driver of the Hyundai sedan. According to the article published online, a helicopter airlifted the patient to a hospital where he later sadly died. The identity of the deceased remained undisclosed pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.
Detectives assigned to handle the case continue to investigate exactly how and why the fatal car and truck accident in North County happened.
