San Diego Man Killed on Interstate 15 Freeway in North County
NORTH COUNTY, Calif. (Sept. 13, 2021) — A North County fatal crash happened Sunday on the Interstate 15 Freeway.
A 56-year-old San Diego man died in the collision early Sunday morning when his car crashed off Interstate 15 north of Pala Mesa, according to a California Highway Patrol report. A 28-year-old man riding in the car as a passenger suffered serious injuries in the collision.
The traffic accident happened about 1:20 a.m. on Sept. 12th, police said.
The vehicle veered off to the right of the southbound side of the freeway near Stewart Canyon Road, the San Diego Union Tribune reports.
The driver struck a guardrail and both people were seriously injured, a CHP Officer said.
Paramedics transported both the driver and passenger to a hospital, but the driver died upon arrival, police said.
Meanwhile, the passenger remained hospitalized on Monday in unknown condition.
Police are investigating what led up to the North County fatal crash and liability.
