NORTH COUNTY, Calif. (Sept. 13, 2021) — A North County fatal crash happened Sunday on the Interstate 15 Freeway.
A 56-year-old San Diego man died in the collision early Sunday morning when his car crashed off Interstate 15 north of Pala Mesa, according to a California Highway Patrol report. A 28-year-old man riding in the car as a passenger suffered serious injuries in the collision.
The traffic accident happened about 1:20 a.m. on Sept. 12th, police said.
The vehicle veered off to the right of the southbound side of the freeway near Stewart Canyon Road, the San Diego Union Tribune reports.
The driver struck a guardrail and both people were seriously injured, a CHP Officer said.
Paramedics transported both the driver and passenger to a hospital, but the driver died upon arrival, police said.
Meanwhile, the passenger remained hospitalized on Monday in unknown condition.
