Child Pedestrian Injured in North Highlands Crash at Santa Fe and Elmo

NORTH HIGHLANDS, CA (September 30, 2021) – A crash injured a child pedestrian at Santa Fe Way and Elmo Drive in North Highlands.

The California Highway Patrol said the incident took place on Thursday morning. Officers reported the accident at about 7:44 a.m.

According to CHP, a vehicle struck a 6-year-old pedestrian for an unknown reason in North Highlands. The driver hit the juvenile at the intersection of Santa Fe Way and Elmo Drive.

Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and found the child hurt. The victim sustained minor injuries to their face as a result of the collision.

Medical personnel took the patient to a hospital for treatment and further evaluation. Officials did not release the condition of the wounded juvenile at this time.

Meanwhile, the motorist apparently stopped and stayed at the site after hitting the victim. Officers forced the area of Santa Fe and Elmo to close following the collision.

The cause of the North Highlands pedestrian crash is still under investigation.
