Child, 8, Injured in North Highlands Hit-and-Run on Polk Street Near Madison
NORTH HIGHLANDS, CA (March 6, 2022) – A child was injured after a hit-and-run crash on Polk Street near Madison Avenue in North Highlands.
The California Highway Patrol said the accident took place on Sunday afternoon. Officers reported the collision occurred at about 5:13 p.m.
The incident happened when a vehicle struck the 8-year-old child for an unknown reason. The female driver hit the victim at 5024 Polk Street, just south of Madison Avenue, in North Highlands.
Driver Hits Victim, Flees Scene
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene. They found the juvenile who ended up hurt as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel provided aid to the patient for the unspecified injuries they sustained in the incident. The report did not disclose the condition of the wounded party at this time.
Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the motorist exited her car, claimed she did not have insurance and then fled the area. They described the suspect vehicle as a gray Lexus.
Officers forced a stretch of Polk Street to shut down following the incident. The cause of the North Highlands hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
