Man, 58, Killed in North Park Hit-and-Run at University and Mississippi
SAN DIEGO, CA (September 17, 2021) – A pedestrian was killed after a hit-and-run crash at University Avenue and Mississippi Street in North Park.
The San Diego Union-Tribune and FOX 5 News wrote that the fatal accident took place earlier this month on September 7.
The incident began when a male pedestrian was walking eastbound across University Avenue at Mississippi Street in the North Park neighborhood.
San Diego police said for a unknown reason, a vehicle struck the 58-year-old man in the intersection. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and found him left lying on the ground.
Pedestrian Hit by Car
The victim sustained major injuries as a result of the collision. Medical personnel soon rushed him to a local hospital, where he died.
The name of the deceased man remains unreleased pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, police affirmed that the driver did not stop to help the pedestrian and then fled south on Mississippi.
They described the car as 2- or 4-door sedan with large chrome wheels. The sedan obtained possible damage to its front bumper, hood and windshield.
Officers collected evidence in the area of University and Mississippi following the incident. The North Park hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
