A forensic examination of the three vehicles, as well as photos that were taken of the scene, will help investigators determine which party ultimately caused the crash. Authorities will thoroughly look into the speed of each driver, whether or not alcohol or drugs played a role, whether or not there were any mechanical issues with the cars, and whether or not one of the motorists involved was distracted or reckless at the time. The investigation will also consist of looking at measurements of evidence left by the vehicles, such as point of impact, its final resting position, skid marks, and gouge marks.
Pending the result and findings of the investigation, the injured and not held responsible for causing the collision will possess the right to pursue a personal injury, seeking a compensation for all the hospital bills, future medical needs, lost income, property damage and pain and suffering.
