Bicycle Rider Seriously Injured in Oakhurst Crash Near Road 222 and Dorstan Drive
OAKHURST, CA (April 8, 2023) – A bicycle rider was seriously injured after a crash near Road 222 and Dorstan Drive in Oakhurst.
According to the California Highway Patrol dispatch team, the accident took place late Saturday morning. Officers reported the collision on April 8 at about 11:44 a.m.
The incident happened when a 56-year-old man was riding a bicycle on the right shoulder of Road 222 near Dorstan Drive in Oakhurst.
The Fresno Bee wrote that the bicyclist began to make a U-turn at the same time, a Dodge Ram was driving by. In the process, the two collided.
Bicyclist and Car Collide
CHP said the impact knocked the rider off his bike. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and found the bicyclist hurt.
The cyclist ended up suffering from major head injuries as a result of the accident. Medical personnel then rushed the patient to a hospital for treatment.
The report did not disclose the name of the wounded party and his condition at this time. Meanwhile, CHP did not mention if the driver of the car stopped or stayed at the site following the collision.
Officers forced the area of Road 222 and Dorstan Drive to shut down after the incident. The cause of the Oakhurst bicycle crash is still under investigation.
