1 Killed, 3 Injured in Oakhurst Crash Road 426 Near High School Road
OAKHURST, CA (May 10, 2022) – A car crash killed one person and injured several others on Road 426 near Oakhurst.
According to The Fresno Bee and ABC 30 News, the tragic accident took place on Sunday night. Officers reported the wreck at about 9:15 p.m.
The incident happened on May 8 when a BMW was going east on Road 426 near High School Road outside of Oakhurst. The car was possibly traveling at a fast speed at the time.
The California Highway Patrol said the BMW then made an unsafe lane change in an attempt to pass a Honda Civic. In the process, the BMW clipped the back of the Honda.
2 Cars Collide
The BMW spun out of control and went off the roadway near High School Road. The BMW came to a stop after it slammed into a tree.
The two occupants of the BMW ended up ejected from their vehicle as a result of the collision. The 18-year-old North Fork man driving the BMW soon died.
Paramedics rushed his passenger, an 18-year-old North Fork woman, to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries. They put her on life support.
The two Oakhurst men, 23 and 25, riding the Honda sustained non-life threatening injuries. The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released.
Meanwhile, CHP forced a stretch of Road 426 to shut down for hours following the wreck. The fatal Oakhurst crash is still under investigation.
