4-Vehicle Crash on I-580 Freeway in Oakland

OAKLAND, Calif. (March 28, 2024) — A multi-vehicle Oakland car accident happened Thursday morning on the westbound Interstate 580 Freeway, just east of Seminary Avenue.

The four-vehicle collision occurred at around 7:51 a.m. on March 28th, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officials reported the drivers of a blue Chevrolet Spark, a Nissan Altima, a Honda Pilot SUV and a tan Hyundai Elantra were involved.

The blue car was reportedly blocking the No. 2 lane, but the other vehicles pulled to the right shoulder after the crash.

The Oakland Fire Department responded with paramedics to help at least one person with minor injuries from the accident.

Meanwhile, tow trucks removed the Nissan due to front-end and rear-end damage, along with the damaged Chevrolet from the roadway.

Investigators are working to determine fault for the Oakland crash on the 580 Freeway.
