Suspected DUI Driver Hits Alameda County Sheriff’s SUV
OAKLAND, Calif. (May 9, 2022) — Three people were injured, one was arrested on DUI charges after an Oakland crash on Foothill Boulevard in the San Antonio neighborhood of Oakland.
A suspected DUI driver reportedly drove through a red traffic light about 4:30 a.m. on May 8th at 16th Avenue, according to East Bay Times. The suspect then crashed into an Alameda County sheriff’s deputy’s SUV, according to the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office.
The police SUV suffered major front-end damage and the other vehicle overturned onto its passenger side on the lawn of Foothill Missionary Baptist Church.
Meanwhile, the sheriff’s deputy and his two passengers suffered undisclosed injuries in the collision. However, no one was seriously hurt in the crash.
Paramedics transported the sheriff’s deputy and two passengers from the SUV to a hospital. All three were treated and released, according to a sheriff’s spokesman.
Additionally, the driver who allegedly caused the crash was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, authorities said.
The collision remains under investigation.
