BREAKING NEWS: Tesla, Honda CR-V Involved in Collision on I-880 Freeway
OAKLAND, Calif. (May 10, 2024) — A two-vehicle Oakland crash happened Friday on the southbound Interstate 880 or Nimitz Freeway, just south of Broadway.
The collision occurred at around 8:52 a.m. on May 10th, according to the California Highway Patrol dispatch.
CHP officials reported a driver in a gray Tesla was allegedly driving at high speed prior to colliding with a driver in a dark gray Honda CR-V, the report said. The Honda SUV also crashed into a guardrail during the collision and sustained major front-end damage. The SUV was possibly blocking the slow lane, police said.
A semi-truck also pulled over after the collision, but it’s unknown if the truck driver was involved.
A witness told authorities they saw the Tesla allegedly traveling at roughly 100 mph before the collision.
Paramedics responded to help at least one person with minor injuries, but there are no further details at this time.
Tow trucks removed the Honda and the Tesla due to a broken front axle.
Investigators are working to determine fault for the Oakland crash on the 880 Freeway.
