
1 Injured in Oakland Crash on Interstate 880 at High Street
OAKLAND, CA (March 17, 2023) – One was hospitalized after a DUI wrong-way crash on the Interstate 880 and High Street in Oakland.
According to an article published by the KTVU News, the accident took place on Friday evening. Officers reported the wreck on March 17 at about 6:09 p.m.
The incident began when a driver was traveling south in the northbound lanes of the Interstate 880 near High Street in the city of Oakland.
DUI Wrong-Way Driver Hits Vehicles
The California Highway Patrol said the wrong-way motorist then slammed into two other vehicles at the off-ramp. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene.
One of the drivers hit by the suspect ended up hurt as a result of the collision. Medical personnel rushed the patient to the hospital for treatment.
The report did not release the name of the wounded victim and their condition at this time. Meanwhile, CHP determined that the 45-year-old man driving the wrong way was under the influence.
Officers soon arrested him for DUI. CHP forced two lanes of the Interstate 880 to shut down near High Street following the wreck. The cause of the Oakland crash is still under investigation.
