1 Killed, 4 Injured in Oakland Car Crash on Grand Avenue
OAKLAND, CA (October 24, 2021) – A car crash killed one person and injured several others on Grand Avenue in Oakland.
According to an article published by the East Bay Times, the tragic accident took place early Sunday. Officers reported the wreck at about 2:02 a.m.
The incident happened when a 2018 Toyota Prius entered the 3300 block of Grand Avenue from the east side and tried to go southbound in Oakland. At the same time, a 2020 Audi Q5 was going north.
Police said in the process, the Audi struck the Toyota. The impact then forced the Prius into a 2015 Mazda CX53 traveling south in the Grand Lake district.
Multiple Vehicles Collide
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and pronounced the 34-year-old woman driving the Toyota dead at the scene. Her passenger, a 33-year-old woman, sustained severe injuries.
Medical personnel rushed her to a hospital in critical but stable condition. They also took three other people to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Officials described the patients as two women and a man. The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released.
Meanwhile, police forced a stretch of Grand Avenue to shut down for a time following the wreck. The cause of the fatal Oakland crash is still under investigation.
