Passenger Killed, Driver Injured in Collision Near MacArthur Maze Saturday
Oakland, CA (March 12, 2022) – A deadly car accident occurred early Saturday on Interstate 80, the Mercury News reported.
Our sources indicated multiple vehicles collided on I-80 near the MacArthur Maze interchange. Officials added the horrible crash took place in the transition road onto I-580 and I-880 just east of the Bay Bridge in Oakland.
Shortly after 2:22 a.m., rescue teams arrived at the location. First responders found a BMW disabled in the westbound side of the freeway. The article published online mentioned a Honda initially crashed into the BMW. Some time afterward, the driver of an oncoming pickup truck failed to avoid the wreckage and also struck the BMW.

Medical personnel said a passenger in the Honda suffered serious injuries as a result of the collision. Despite life-saving measures performed by paramedics, the passenger sadly succumbed to their injuries and passed away. The identity of the deceased remained undisclosed pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.
Authorities added the driver of the Honda, and several other parties involved in the wreck sustained injuries. Rescue teams transported the patients to the hospitals for further treatment and evaluation.
At this time, detectives continue to investigate the precise cause of the traffic crash on Interstate 80 in Oakland.
