Pedestrian Man Killed in Hit-and-Run; Both Vehicles Flee Scene
OAKLAND (December 4, 2017)- According to the East Bay Times, a pedestrian man was killed following a hit-and-run Monday morning in which the drivers of both involved vehicles each fled the scene.
Oakland police responded to the scene of the incident which occurred at the 8200 block of International Boulevard at roughly 12:48 a.m.
Per the article, the two vehicles were traveling eastbound on International when one of the vehicle drivers lost control and struck a man either standing on a sidewalk or in the parking lot of a Walgreen’s.
The pedestrian man who has not been ID’d sadly suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced at the scene.
Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle who crashed fled the scene on foot while the driver of the other vehicle drove away and ditched the vehicle in close proximity to where the crash took place.
At this time, neither of the suspects have been located as authorities believe the two cars were likely street racing prior to the collision.
Anyone with information is urged to phone Oakland PD at 510-777-8570.
This story will be updated pending the release of the victim’s identity and or any new details on the hit-and-run suspects.

Most traffic accidents which involve a driver who flees the scene can be subjected to serious criminal charges, especially when a particular crash causes serious injuries to another person. Such circumstances are considered as “felony hit-and-run,” leaving the victim a legal right to pursue a wrongful death or personal injury lawsuit against the suspect. We hope the hit-and-run suspect will be located and justice will then be served.
In such cases where negligence or wrongdoing may have been a factor, the surviving family members of the victim involved in this malicious hit-and-run incident will have the right to pursue a wrongful death lawsuit against the responsible party and or if the victim carries uninsured motorist coverage.
