Pedestrian Killed in Oakland Crash on Interstate 580 Near MacArthur Boulevard
OAKLAND, CA (September 3, 2022) – A crash killed a pedestrian on the Interstate 580 Near MacArthur Boulevard in Oakland.
According to the NBC Bay Area and SF Gate, the tragic accident took place on Saturday night. Officers reported the wreck at around 9:15 p.m.
The incident happened when a pedestrian tried to run across the Interstate 580 in Oakland. For an unknown reason, a vehicle struck them.
Victim Hit by Vehicle
The California Highway Patrol said the driver hit the person near the MacArthur Boulevard on-ramp and the Interstate 980 connector.
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and pronounced the victim dead at the scene. The name of the deceased party has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, CHP added that the driver stopped and stayed at the site after hitting the person. The cause of the fatal Oakland pedestrian crash is still under investigation.
Officers forced the westbound lanes of the Interstate 580 to shut down for hours near MacArthur following the incident.
