Pedestrian Killed in Oakland Crash at Telegraph Avenue and 20th Street
OAKLAND, CA (April 23, 2022) – A crash killed a pedestrian at Telegraph Avenue and 20th Street in Oakland.
According to the KRON 4 News and KTVU News, the tragic accident took place on Friday morning. Officers reported the collision at about 7 a.m.
The incident happened on April 22 when a male pedestrian was in a marked crosswalk in the Uptown neighborhood of Oakland.
At the same time, a vehicle was going north on Telegraph Avenue approaching 20th Street. Police said the driver then turned west onto 20th Street.
Man, 91, Hit by Vehicle
In the process, the motorist hit the 91-year-old Oakland man in the intersection. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and found him down on the ground.
The victim sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision. Medical personnel then took him to a hospital, where he died.
The name of the deceased party has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, police affirmed that the driver stopped and stayed at the site after hitting the man.
Officers forced the area of Telegraph Avenue and 20th Street to shut down for a time following the incident. The cause of the fatal Oakland pedestrian crash is still under investigation.
