Oakland hit-and-run Interstate 880 23rd
1 Injured in Oakland Hit-and-Run Crash on Interstate 880 Near 23rd Avenue
OAKLAND, CA (November 16, 2021) – One was hospitalized after a hit-and-run crash on the Interstate 880 near 23rd Avenue in Oakland.
According to the California Highway Patrol dispatch team, the accident took place on Tuesday morning. Officers reported the wreck at about 10:06 a.m.
CHP said a gold Honda Accord collided with a big rig in the city of Oakland. The two crashed on the northbound Interstate 880, just south of 23rd Avenue.
Car and Big Rig Collide
The Honda then rolled over and came to a rest on its roof upon impact. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene.
They found an one occupant of the Accord who sustained an injury to their left hand as a result of the collision. Medical personnel then took the victim to the Highland Hospital for treatment.
Officials did not disclose the name of the wounded patient and their condition at this time. Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the driver of the truck failed to stop and fled the area.
Officers forced the northbound lanes of the Interstate 880 to shut down near 23rd Avenue following the wreck. The Oakland hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
