Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Oakland Crash on Interstate 580 Near Fruitvale
OAKLAND, CA (March 16, 2022) – A crash seriously injured a motorcyclist on the Interstate 580 near Fruitvale Avenue in Oakland.
The California Highway Patrol first logged the accident on Tuesday afternoon. According to their dispatch, officers reported the wreck at about 1:07 p.m.
The incident happened on March 15 when the motorcycle rider and a Chevrolet Volt collided for an unknown reason in Oakland.
The two crashed on the eastbound side of the Interstate 580, just west of Fruitvale Avenue. The car obtained major rear-end damage while the bike was completely destroyed.
Motorcycle and Car Collide
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene. They found the motorcyclist who sustained major injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel then took the wounded party to a hospital for treatment. The report did not release the name of the patient and their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, CHP did not mention if the driver of the Chevrolet ended up hurt following the wreck. Officers forced the eastbound lanes of the Interstate 580 to shut down near Fruitvale after the incident.
The cause of the Oakland crash is still under investigation.
