OAKLAND, California (July 21, 2016) — A motorcyclist, a black SUV and a semi-tractor trailer truck collided Thursday morning on the southbound Interstate 880 Freeway at the 29th Avenue off ramp, a California Highway Patrol report said.
The crash took place about 9:13 a.m. in the Nos. 1 and 2 lanes. Police say the motorcycle rider was found laying between the Nos. 1 and 2 lanes after being struck by vehicles. The black Jeep SUV stopped and remained at the scene, but the big rig truck driver fled without stopping. The suspect’s vehicle was described as a gray truck and trailer with the words “Buyright Food” on the side.
Paramedics responded to help the injured rider as well as anyone else who suffered injuries in the collision. Police are investigating the crash as a hit-and-run.
