Elderly Man Struck, Injured in Oakland Pedestrian Crash
OAKLAND, Calif. (April 26, 2021) — A driver struck a 95-year-old man in an Oakland pedestrian accident Sunday morning in Chinatown.
The 11:40 a.m. collision on April 25th left the victim in critical condition at the hospital, according to East Bay Times.
Police say Sunday’s Oakland pedestrian accident happened at the intersection of Tenth and Jackson streets. The Oakland man crossed westbound in a marked crosswalk controlled by traffic lights when the oncoming Toyota Sienna struck him.
The driver in the silver Toyota was going northbound on Jackson Street. Meanwhile, police are piecing together evidence and witness statements to determine whether the pedestrian or the driver had the green light.
Additionally, there were no injuries to the 62-year-old Oakland resident driving the vehicle.
The Toyota driver stopped after the Oakland pedestrian accident and is cooperating with police traffic investigators. Furthermore, police do not suspect speed, drugs or alcohol were factors in the collision.
However, witnesses may call traffic investigators at 510-777-8570.
