Woman, 52, Critically Injured in Oakland Hit-and-Run at Church and Bancroft

OAKLAND, CA (June 29, 2021) – A hit-and-run crash critically injured a pedestrian at  Church Street and Bancroft Avenue in East Oakland.

According to an article published by the East Bay Times, the accident took place late Monday night. Officers reported the collision at about 10:16 p.m.

The incident happened on June 28 when a female pedestrian was walking north across Bancroft Avenue near the intersection with Church Street in Oakland.

At the same time, a vehicle was going west on Bancroft. Police said the driver then made a U-turn on Church Street and struck the 52-year-old woman.

Pedestrian Hit by Car

Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and found her left lying on the ground. She sustained major external and internal injuries as a result of the collision.

Medical personnel soon rushed the victim to a hospital where they listed her in critical condition. Officials did not release her name.

Meanwhile, police affirmed that the motorist did not stop to render aid to the pedestrian and fled the area. They described the car as a black Volkswagen.

Officers forced the intersection of Church and Bancroft to shut down following the collision. The Oakland hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
