TV News Van Driver Injured in Oakland Hit-and-Run at 14th and Jefferson Streets
OAKLAND, CA (May 2, 2021) – A driver of a TV news van was hospitalized after a hit-and-run crash at 14th and Jefferson streets in Oakland.
According to the East Bay Times and KRON 4 News, the accident occurred late Saturday night. Officers reported the wreck on May 1 at about 10:06 p.m.
Police said a silver BMW slammed into a KPIX-Channel 5 news van for an unknown reason. The two collided at the intersection of 14th and Jefferson streets in Oakland.
Driver Hits KPIX News Van, Flees on Foot
Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene and found the driver of the news van who ended up hurt as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel then took the victim to a local hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries. Officials did not release the name of the patient and their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the male motorist in the BMW abandoned the car and fled on foot. Authorities located him just a block away from the crash site.
They soon arrested and took the man into custody. The Oakland hit-and-run collision is still under investigation.
